Florida vs. Alabama Baseball Preview

Florida will head to Tuscaloosa and start their three game series against Alabama starting Friday at 7 p.m. Alabama, 12-6 comes off a 3-2 loss against Southern Mississippi. Florida, ranked No. 9, is 13-4 this season and also comes off a loss versus Seton Hall. However, they won the series 2-1.

SEC Season Opener

The last time these teams faced off was in the 2021 SEC championship where Florida won 7-2. Outside of tournament play, Florida has won the last two series against Alabama.

Alabama comes into this matchup hoping to show improvements through the season. Head Coach Brad Bohannon said teams like Texas, that they have played earlier in the season, have helped them prepare for matchups against teams like Florida. While SEC play starts Friday, the official tournament is set for May 24-29.

About Alabama

Alabama has been led by RHP Garret McMillian. He has led the team with strikeouts the season with 22. McMillian is also tied for 10th in the league in ERA sitting at 1.80. McMillian will start for the Tide Friday with Antoine Jean and Grayson Hitt starting on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Alabama hopes to come out strong and show the improvement they have been seeing and provide a good matchup for Florida. Alabama’s offense is led by Tommy Seidl, Eric Foggo and Andrew Pinckney,

About Florida

The Gators are currently peaking at No. 9 in the USA today and D1Baseball Top 25. LHP Hunter Barco will lead off for the gators Friday night pitching with Brandon Sproat starting Saturday. Sundays pitcher is still undetermined at this time. Florida is led by Jud Fabian, Colby Halter and Wyatt Langford in offensive production.  Florida hopes to continue the season with another series win as they start SEC Play.

After Alabama, the Gators will turn to face off against Bethune-Cookman University on Tuesday. While Alabama will take on University of Alabama at Birmingham on Tuesday.
