Gators Freshman Justin Watkins Suspended Following Arrest, Facing Four Charges

One of Dan Mullen’s highest rated recruits from his opening class at Florida is at risk of never seeing the field for the Gators due to continued run ins with the law.

Freshman Justin Watkins was arrested according to a July 20th police report and faces four charges, including two third-degree felonies for false imprisonment/kidnapping and domestic battery by strangulation. The other two charges he faces are two first-degree misdemeanors for battery.

Shortly after news of Watkins arrest broke, Mullen told 247Sports that Watkins had been suspended from all team activities.

The arrest represents an extremely troubling trend for the former 4-star, as this is his second arrest in three months.

Back in May, Watkins was arrested for trespassing after an altercation with a woman that included destroying her phone.

Now, Watkins faces these four charges after allegedly punching a woman, choking her while pinning her to a bed, and throwing items at her once she managed to escape, according to a police report.
