Eastside’s season came to an abrupt end last night as the Rams lost 48-45 to Palatka in the 6A Semi-final.
The Rams had an opportunity to punch their ticket to the regional final but were outscored 10 to 2 down the stretch. Palatka gave Eastside more than they could handle as Mitchell McKinnon led the team with 16 points and 14 Rebounds.
As Tough As Expected
On Tuesday, Eastside coach Pop Williams said on Steve Russell’s show that he expected a tough match-up.
Williams said that he was preparing his team for Palatka’s fast pace of play. The Panthers played fast and the Rams began to get tired late in the game as a result.
Bottom line tonight for the P-Town Ballers: Palatka turned the ball over just ONCE in the last half. That's right … ONCE. Makes your comeback easier to make. PHS also sensed Eastside gettin' tired, even with all those Rams players shuttin' in/out of the game. #conditioningrules

The Rams had good reason to be confident going into the game as they were 7-0 on the road before the game.
The loss marked an end to a successful season for Eastside as they finished with a 23-6 overall record.
For Palatka, their dream season continues. With the win, the Panthers broke their program record for wins in a single season with their 27th victory of the year. Palatka’s next game is on Friday against Ridgewood for the 6A regional championship.
