No. 5 Gator Lacrosse Rallies Behind #PirrecaPower, but Fail to Come Back

In an epic rally at the end of the game, the Florida Gator lacrosse team would suffer a 16-14 defeat. The first loss of the season would come from the reigning national champion Maryland Terrapins.

Pirreca Power Leads the Charge

While the Gators did rally, it wasn’t enough to secure the come-from-behind victory. One of the positives from this game however was the scoring output from both Shayna and Sydney Pirreca.  Shayna Pirreca would have a historic game for herself, scoring her 100th career goal in the top-five duel. Of Florida’s 14 goals, Shayna would score three goals on the road to history.

The first time she scored would come 25 minutes into the first half, to bring Florida to an 8-7 score.

Not to be outdone, Sydney would have a big day for herself. She would contribute six points of 14, and begin the charge for the late-game rally; her goal would bring the Gators within two, and would secure the hat trick in the first half.

Ultimately, the Pirreca Power was on overdrive against the national champion Terrapins, but wouldn’t be enough to close out the rally.
