National Signing Day in Gainesville

Today is national signing day for college football and the Gators are looking to add some new faces to their roster.

After Florida and their coaching staff found success in the early-signing period they have just nine remaining scholarships for their 2018 football class. Three of these spots are expected to go to the Gators’ verbal commits.

Verbal Commits and some officially committed

  • Justin Watkins- Filled the Gators first signee spot at 8:45 a.m. this morning. Watkins is a 4-star wide receiver from East Ridge High School in Clermont, Florida.

 

  • Griffin McDowell- 6-foot-4, 280-pound offensive lineman from Leesburg, Georgia committed this morning to the Gators.
  • Richard Gouraige- Under Armour All-American, a 4-star offensive tackle from Tampa, Florida. Gouraige committed to Florida with former head coach Jim McElwain on staff but Auburn and Clemson are now also in Gouraige’s perspective. Expected signing time at 2:30 p.m.

Other Prospects

  • Noah Boykin- 4-star cornerback out of Washington, D.C. The Gators are looking to flip Boykin who was previously committed to Maryland but seemed very interested in Florida after his official visit in January. Boykin announcement will be at 11:30 a.m.
  • Jacob Copeland- 6-foot wide receiver out of Pensacola, Florida is a top-100 overall prospect and top receiver in the state of Florida will be announcing his decision on ESPN2 at 2 p.m.
  • Malik Langham- 4-star defensive-end from Huntsville, Alabama. Expecting signing time at 3:30 p.m.

Florida Commits

  • Griffin McDowell- Offensive lineman from Leesburg, Georgia sent in his letter of intent
  • Justin Watkins-  ATH out of Clermont Florida also sent in his letter of intent

  • Andrew Chatfield- The defensive end that previously committed to Ohio State choose the University of Florida this morning. Chatfield will add a big defensive threat for the Gators’ defense.

  • Jacob Copeland- The No. 1 wide receiver in the state of Florida chose the Gators. Copeland’s mother wasn’t a fan of the decision

  • Richard Gouraige- the Top 100 ranked offensive lineman from Tampa chose Florida over Clemson

  • Malik Langham- The final recruit of the day, Langham is a four star defensive end from Huntsville, Alabama
