LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers (3-5) are one of the top contending teams in the NBA, but for some reason they just can’t grab a win to save their record. Around this time in the beginning of the season, the Cavaliers always tend start off slow.
After making major changes to their roster and losing a big part of their offense, Kyrie Irving, the Cavaliers are struggling.
Challenges Faced by Cleveland
LeBron James is one of the most dominant players in the NBA and he’s obviously Cleveland’s leader. Without James and his firepower, much of the Cavs’ success would not be as easily achieved.
After losing Irving to the Boston Celtics, James has so much more weight on his shoulders and he has to carry the team on his back. After losing a big piece of the puzzle, the Cavs have added a lot of talent to the team by adding Dwyane Wade, Isaiah Thomas and Derrick Rose. These additions should give LeBron some room to breath, but lately that has not been the case.
Cavs Rankings
- 46.6% in Field Goal being 6th in the NBA
- Ranked 23rd in 3-point percentage at 33.1%
- 17th in points scored for regular season averaging 105 PPG
- 20th in the NBA totaling 42.9% rebounds
Moving Forward
As Cleveland works through much frustration and a losing streak, they scheduled a team sit-down. The purpose of the meeting was to put it all on the table early, so down the line the team does not have anymore surprises.
James, being the team’s leader, experienced a minor setback in the pre-season. After suffering a sprained ankle, James was sidelined and it affected his training.
The team needed this meeting for the slow start to the season. James states that there are major problems and it is only the beginning of the season. “It’s the starting unit we got to figure it out someway some how guys are just scoring on us at will against us and our defense is pretty bad.”
The majority of the team voiced their opinion on things and just hopes to move forward, with James having arguably one of the worst starts of his career. He hopes surpass this little bump and move forward to winning yet another NBA championship.
Up Next For The Cavs
After that well needed team meeting, the Cavaliers will take a road trip to Washington to take on John Wall and the Wizards. Cleveland is hoping to shake off their losing streak with this Eastern matchup. Tip off for the game is set for Friday, 7:00 pm on ESPN.
Better days ahead!!!
