Eastside Barely Let Bellview Go
Eastside really showed Bellview what a difference a year can make. The Rams presented a tough fight on Thursday night in a nail-biting game against the Rattlers. Bellview barely squeezed a victory with the final score of 36-33.
About half-way through the first half, Bellview blocked Eastside’s punt and Antown Jones grabbed the ball which gave the Rattlers a 13-12 lead. At the end of the half, Corey Wilsher threw it deep to Michael Henderson which bumped Bellview up to 20-12 lead.
However, the second half is where the game got exciting.
The Rams got a touchdown by Anthony Richardson; Richardson ran a bootleg to the left and after breaking a tackle, made it to the endzone putting the Rams back on the board to close the gap 26-19. Then on the kickoff, the ball bounced off the return man and skipped into the end zone. Bellview forgot to field it and Eastide took advantage an tied the game 26-26.
Eastside continued to play hard and in an interception made by Earley Young III, the Rams were able to take its first lead (33-26).
Then, the Rattlers made a comeback.
Bellview started to rely on their running backs. In a desperate need for six, Wilsher found John Heflin to tie the game again in the fourth quarter.
After this, the Rattlers gave it their all.
Heflin came in clutch for Bellview. The RB carried 20-yards to set up a red-zone attempt. Eastside did not let them have it easy and forced a third field-goal attempt. Helfin continued fighting for extra yards and staying in bounds which helped them run the clock to secure the win.
