No Big Surprises In First Days of Wimbledon

The round of 64 is currently underway at the Wimbledon. As of Wednesday’s matches there have been no upset but that could change at any moment.

Recap (July 5)

On Wednesday, we saw reigning Wimbledon Champion Andy Murray, who is currently at the No.1 seed, take on Dustin Brown. With no surprise Andy Murray won in straight sets.

While No.4 seed Rafael Nadal defeated American Donald Young in three straight sets. Nadal will face Karen Khachanov on on Friday, after losing in the first set but cutting the win close in the last three sets.

Other big name heading to the next round are Marin Čilić, Kei Nishikori, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gilles Müller, Roberto Bautista Agut and Sam Austin Querrey, and Steve Johnson Jr.

After Venus Williams heartfelt speech on Monday during her post-match press conference, she was able to show up on Wednesday with a win over Wang Qiang, not before dropping the first set 6-4.

July 6

Thurdsay’s matches will feature No. 2 seed Novak Djokovic taking on Adam Pavlásek, Roger Federer facing Dušan Lajović during the day.

American John Isner fell short to David Sela in a five-set match battle and Juan del Potro lost to Ernests Gulbis.

As for the women, No. 1 seed Angelique Kerber will face Kirsten Flipkens and Caroline Wozniacki takes on Tsvetana Pironkova.
