The Gator softball team recorded another SEC victory Friday night in Knoxville in front of a record-breaking crowd as Gator pitcher Kelly Barnhill silences the Vol bats in a 5-0 Gator win.
Gator’s success
Kayli Kvistad earned her first SEC Player of the Week award. This award is first for the program since 2015. Kvistad wasn’t shy about showing how she earned her award either. In the first inning, She hit the first of her two home runs in the game to give the Gators a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth, Florida pitcher Kelly Barnhill secured her seventh strike out and ended a scoring threat by the Vols who left two runners on base. Then, the Gators got the bats going again as Amanda Lorenz hit her second triple of the season that scored Jaimie Hoover and Justine McLean. Lorenz then scored on a wild pitch that made the score 4-0. The final run of the game scored on Kvistad’s second homer of the game.
