NASHVILLE, TN – The Florida Gators have made it to the SEC Women’s Tennis Championships and will compete in the quarterfinals against Mississippi State Friday morning. The tournament will take place at the Currey Tennis Center on Vanderbilt University’s campus. Head coach of the Florida Gator Women’s Tennis Team Roland Thornqvist says this team is mentally tough enough to handle any type of pressure in this tournament.

Since the Gators are one of the top four seeds in the tournament they earned a double-round bye. The Gators have an overall record of 38-0 against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Overall the Gators had an incredible regular season, Thornqvist says the team is playing great going into the tournament.  The Bulldogs are the sixth seed in this tournament, they defeated No. 11 Tennessee on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals against the Gators. Florida is looking to bounce back from their last match, where they lost to Vanderbilt on April 16th. Their eight-match win streak was halted due to the loss.

NEXT UP – If the Gators go on to beat the Bulldogs, they will play the winners of the Georgia vs Auburn on Saturday at eleven AM.
