The Miami Dolphins not only spoiled Jared Goff’s first career start in the NFL, but rallied their way to their fifth straight win with a 14-10 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on the road on Sunday.
Trailing the entire game, the Dolphins came back in the final quarter with two dramatic drives to get the ‘w.’ The Rams defense contained Miami’s offense until about four minutes to go and then Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill connected with Jarvis Landry for a 10-yard TD pass to put the team’s first points on the board at 4:02 of the fourth quarter.
Miami stopped the Rams on the following drive to get the ball right back. They then marched down the field from their 25 to get in scoring position. With just 36 seconds left, a pass from Tannehill to DeVante Parker for 9-yards lifted the Dolphins over the Rams for the first time all game.

Quarterback Ryan Tannehill was 24 for 34 for 172 yards. Tannehill said that even though the team trailed until late, there was never any doubt from the team that they could come back and win.
Other notables for the Dolphins was stand out running back Jay Ajayi, who had 16 carries for 77 yards, and wide receiver Devante Parker with 79 receiving yards and the game-winning touchdown.
The Ram defense carried the team throughout the game, which only totaled 102 yards on the ground and 143 receiving. Todd Gurley scored on a 24-yard run in the first quarter for Los Angeles, but neither team managed to put together much on the offensive front until Miami’s late momentum. A 46-yard field goal by Greg Zuerlein were the only other points the Rams would score on the day.

In his NFL debut, Jared Goff finished 17-of-31 for 134 yards with zero touchdown passes and zero interceptions. He was sacked once and finished with a 65.8 passer rating.
After starting for three years at California, Goff was drafted by the Rams with the first overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Even though it was not the outcome he would have liked for his first start on the NFL stage, Goff said any game experience is good experience.

Up next, the Dolphins (6-4) return home to host struggling San Francisco (1-9) while the Rams (4-6) are at New Orleans for another road trip in a travel-heavy season.
