TNF Preview: Carolina Hosts New Orleans

The New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers will get a rematch of Week 6 tonight in Charlotte. Although some say Carolina is a home favorite, their shot at the post season is slim compared to New Orleans’. Five weeks ago. the Saints came out on top with a 41-38 win over the Panthers at home. Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 465 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.

Saints Breakdown

The 4-5 Saints are third in the NFC South. Although they’re coming off a loss to the Broncos, they have won four of their last six games. Brees says his team has really improved as the season has progressed and will continue to do so moving forward. But Thursday night games make it tough for both teams to prepare with minimal practice time. Head coach Sean Payton says the Saints worked on keeping their focus and eye on the prize.

Panthers Breakdown

As for Carolina, their post season prospects are not looking so good. With a 3-6 record, they sit last in the NFC South. Despite coming off a loss to the Chiefs on Sunday, quarterback Cam Newton says they’re hyped and ready for the home crowd tonight, and they won’t let the numbers slow them down. When sizing up the opponent, Newton says the Saints run a tricky defense, which will be a challenge to get around.

Kick off is set for 8:25 p.m. in Bank of America Stadium. As for the playoff rankings, there are still six more weeks in the regular season which leaves a lot of wiggle room.
