High School Playoff Preview: Trenton Rolls On To Pahokee

The Trenton Tigers (9-1) will travel to a neutral playing field to take on the Pahokee Blue Devils (11-0) this Friday night in a high school playoff matchup.

The Tigers will ride their nine game winning streak into this playoff game with Pahokee. The only loss they have suffered was in their season opener, when they were shut out by Wakulla 16-0. Trenton head coach Bill Wiles says he knew he would have a good team at the beginning of the season, and mentioned things could have gone in the opposite direction in games throughout the year.

Pahokee Preview

Trenton will have a big task in front of them if they want to advance in the playoffs, however. Pahokee is undefeated, sitting with an 11-0 record. They beat Newberry High School 35-34 in overtime in their last game.Wiles sees tons of bright spots in Pahokee like their receivers, defensive backs, defensive line, and the rest of their offense.

Earlier in the year, Trenton beat Newberry 19-18 and Newberry had the overtime thriller against Pahokee. Wiles was asked if watching Newberry play Pahokee will help Trenton prepare for Pahokee.

Wiles answered yes, because the familiarity they have with Newberry gives them confidence they can beat Pahokee. Then he mentioned, just like any other game, they can’t turn the football over.

Game Time

We’ll see if Trenton has enough confidence to pull off the upset against Pahokee and advance in the playoffs this Friday, when the football is kicked off at 7:30 p.m.
