Preview: Gators to Face Georgia and Mississippi State on the Road

After two weeks of playing in the “LemDome”, the Gator volleyball team is on the road again to face Georgia on Wednesday night and Mississippi State on Sunday.

The Team

On Monday, Florida made a strong move up in the national rankings. The Gators are now No.7 in the RPI rankings and are in a first-place tie with Missouri in the SEC standings. They are also the best in the country with a .334 hitting percentage.

Redshirt sophomore Allie Monserez was named SEC Setter of the week, making it the fifth time this season. She tallied 77 assists, 12 digs, and five blocks during the weekend matches.

The Gators, with a record of 20-2 overall, 10-1 in the SEC are 8-0 on the road with an eight-game winning streak.

History

The Gators last faced the Georgia Bulldogs (13-10) on Oct.23 and the team dominated. Florida made it a clean sweep. Even though they struggled a little in the first two sets, the Gators made a come back in the third and only allowed Georgia to score eight points.

Head Coach Mary Wise had a couple words to say about the upcoming match and how both of the teams are playing better volleyball.
