Joey Logano won the Sprint Cup Series at Talladega Sunday to advance in the NASCAR playoffs. With this win Logano earned a spot into the third round of The Chase. Drivers Denny Hamlin and Austin Dillon raced neck and neck the final two laps of the race to qualify to move on and Hamlin advanced on a tie breaker. Logano gained the lead on the 147th lap, and from there controlled the pace to the finish. The 26 year old says he is thrilled about the win.

For most of the race, it looked as though driver Brad Keselowski would be in the victory circle. He started the race below the cut line but was determined to win and starting dominating from the front early on in the race. However, bad luck struck Keselowski as he blew an engine as did Martin Truex. Chase Elliott also had his NASCAR Chase run cut short as he was also eliminated from the field. Advancing were Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle and Kurt Busch, Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards, along with Logano and Hamlin.
