The Buchholz Bobcats football team (3-2) goes on the road for a conference call against the Bartram Trail Bears (4-2) on Friday. The Bobcats are currently on a two game losing streak after losing in double overtime to the Gainesville Hurricanes 31-30 last week. Sophomore quarterback Camden Orth threw for two touchdowns in the loss. Meanwhile the Bartram Bears are coming off a huge victory over the Creekside Knights in a 63-7 blowout. Sophomore Devin Ellison ran for 82 yards with two rushing touchdowns in the game.
Buchholz is currently 1-0 in the district. Coach Mark Whittemore will look to several players for standout performances including Orth, who leads the team in passing yards with 791 and seven passing touchdowns. Senior running back Torrey Richardson leads the team in rushing yards with 346 and senior wide receiver Luke Whittemore leads the team with 22 receptions and 300 yards receiving.
Coach Darrell Sutherland and the Bartram Bears are 2-0 in the district and want to take advantage of home field against the Buchholz Bobcats. Senior quarterback Jordan Smith has thrown for 510 yards with six passing touchdowns and he hopes to leave his imprint on the game. Sophomore running back Devin Ellison who leads the team with 280 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns and leading receiver (12 receptions) sophomore Griffin Helm is looking to make an impact as well.
