The Florida Gator volleyball team finished their SEC opening weekend with a clean sweep against Alabama 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-19). The Gators improve to 12-1 on the season making it an undefeated start to SEC play.
Gator coach Mary wise had a few words to say on their defense and on the play of Caroline Knop.
Allie Monserez led the Gators with a double-double with an offense that hit .375. The Gators posted 11 blocks and held the Crimson Tide to a .196 efficiency as well.
Monerez had three aces to accompany 10 digs and 43 assists making it her most in a three-set match this season. Alex Holston posted a team best of 15 points and Shainah Joseph had a season high four blocks as well.

The Gators then closed out the third set 25-19, giving Florida its first sweep of an SEC school this season.

Florida will face off against Kentucky on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Lemerand Center in its first SEC home match of the year.
