After going 10-1 during the first part of the season, the Florida Gator volleyball team will play their first conference match Friday evening against the Ole Miss Rebels.
Both teams are off to an impressive start this season. The Gators haven’t lost a match since their first one of the season against Nebraska back in August, 1-3. Ole Miss on the other hand, are 11-2 this season with their second loss coming from their most recent match against Chattanooga (2-3). Florida head coach Mary Wise feels that those 11 games up until now have prepared her girls for this next part of the season.
Under Wise, the Gators have never lost a match against the Rebels (40-0). When the two teams met last season, the Gators left the court with a 3-0 win over Ole Miss in Gainesville. In fact, since the 2010 season Florida has only dropped one set when up against Ole Miss.
Florida leads the conference in assists per set (13.38), kills per set (14.22), and blocks per set (2.81) this season. The Gators travel to Ole Miss with both the three-time SEC Setter of the Week, Allie Monserez, and SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week, Rhamat Alhassan.

The Gators are led in points by their three leading hitters, Alex Holston (152.5), Carli Snyder (151.5), and Alhassan (118.5). Monserez leads the team in assists (12.12/s) and the combined blocking efforts of Rachael Kramer (1.45/s) and Alhassan (1.41/s) keep the Gators at the number one spot for blocking in the conference.
In the SEC, Ole Miss is the sixth-ranked team in assists and the seventh-ranked in kills.
Friday evening’s game in Oxford is set for 7:30 pm.
