Luke Del Rio took the podium this afternoon in front of a packed conference room before going into his first game starting at quarterback for the Florida Gators. To many people’s surprise, Del Rio seemed calm, cool and collected; not worried in the slightest about making his first start in five short days. When asked about a pinned tweet to his twitter profile currently of the predicted SEC East standings, Del Rio said it will serve as a reminder to motivate the team throughout the season.
Coach McElwain harped on the importance of understanding this will be Del Rio’s first start as a Florida Gator and he is still very much a student of the game. He told reporters at his Monday press conference that the team is more comfortable with a consistent leader in the huddle.
The Gators will take on the University of Massachusetts this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Del Rio says he is more then ready to take that first snap as the starter for the Gators.
