Hurricanes to Host Super Regional

Miami Hurricane baseball (48-11) is advancing to the NCAA super regionals after defeating Long Beach State University 9-8 in the NCAA Coral Gables Regional on Sunday night.

The game looked promising for Miami with eight runs in the first four innings, until Long Beach State tied up the game 8-8 in the eighth inning. It was Randy Batista’s single RBI in the bottom of the ninth that helped bring his team to a walk off victory. This is the first time the Hurricanes have reached back to back super regionals since 2005-06.

The Hurricanes will host the NCAA Super Regional this weekend against Boston College. The last time these two teams met was when the Hurricanes swept Boston in a three-game series back in 2014. The Hurricanes are one of three teams from Florida who have advanced in the college world series. Joining the Hurricanes are the Florida Gators and the Florida State Seminoles.

The winner is of the Super Regional will determine who will advance to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
