Saban-Harbaugh Feud Continues

Satellite camps begin this week for college coaches throughout the country. Alabama head coach Nick Saban clearly is not a fan of them as he went on a rant at the SEC’s annual meetings in Destin, Florida over the controversial camps being held around the country.

Saban is upset with the NCAA’s ruling that allows coaches to attend camps at other schools. In his press conference Tuesday he expressed his concern for the potential issues these camps could bring to the sport. Saban’s comments brought attention to the potential issues that these camps create and why he thinks that the camps can be harmful.

Prior to the existence of satellite camps, college coaches had to go through the high school coach to recruit players. During Saban’s press conference he remarked that football is the only sport left where the high school coach still matters.

Although Saban isn’t a fan of this recruitment tactic, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has been a large proponent of them over the last two seasons.

In the press conference Harbaugh was a topic of conversation. Saban said “I’m not blaming Jim Harbaugh, I’m not saying anything about him. I’m just saying it’s bad for college football.”

Jim Harbaugh fired back at Saban on Twitter.

Saban foresees unregulated camps exposing college coaches and highlights some of the issues the camps create. Although Saban isn’t a fan of these camps Alabama is expected to attend a satellite camp June 9-10 in Detroit.
