Marlins Continue Four Game Series Against The Pirates

The Miami Marlins were able to win against the Pittsburgh Pirates Tuesday night 3-1, after losing Monday night’s game 10-0.

Star pitcher Jose Fernandez outshined Gerrit Cole for the Pirates on the mound. Fernandez threw seven shoutout innings, striking out six, while Cole had three runs in 6 1/3 innings, struck out four and walked two. Fernandez was able to throw 62 of 88 pitches for strikes, while also improving 22-1 at home and lowering his ERA to 2.53.

Christian Yehlich for the Marlins had a tiebreaking RBI single in the seventh inning, J.T. Realmuto had three hits and A.J. Ramos pitched the ninth inning for his 16th save. Ichiro Suzuki had two hits for the Marlins to tie Sam Crawford for 31st on MLB’s all-time hit list with 2,963 hits.

The Marlins will continue their four-game series against the Pirates tonight at 7:10 p.m.
