The Florida baseball team (44-11) heads into the postseason after winning its last regular season game against LSU 6-2. After a rather disappointing weekend, the Gators hit their stride in Game 3 of the series.
Florida’s first score came after Jonathan India was struck by a pitch, and JJ Schwarz hit a ball to left field for an RBI double. Deacon Liput followed with a single to score Schwarz that gave the Gators a 2-0 lead.
LSU responded with a score of its own in the bottom of the inning on a Jake Fraley solo homer off of Gator starting pitcher Alex Faedo to make the score 2-1.
The Gators broke the game open in the fifth inning when India hit a three-run double down the left field line to extend the lead to 5-1. India then stole third and Schwarz brought him home with a sacrifice fly to make it 6-1 Florida.
The Tigers plated a run after a Kramer Robertson triple and an RBI double by Chris Reid but that was all the scoring as reliever Shaun Anderson shut the door on the Tiger rally.

With the victory in Baton Rouge, the Gators set their regular season wins for a school record to 44. Florida ends up 19-10 in SEC play, good enough for a No. 4 seed going into this week’s SEC Tournament. The Gators get a first round bye in the tournament and will play the victors of LSU/Tennessee on Wednesday.
