The fourth ranked Florida women’s tennis just came off an exciting weekend. First, the team beat third ranked Georgia on Friday to clinch the SEC regular season championship and then on Sunday swept Tennessee 4-0. The Gators are now ranked number one going into the SEC Tournament that starts Wednesday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

With a 52-5 overall singles record in the SEC, the Gators have a 13-0 SEC regular season record and the program’s 24th undefeated SEC season.

Coach Roland Thornqvist has already gained 10 SEC championships and 11 SEC regular season titles since he started coaching the Gators in 2002. Thornqvist says the team deserves to go far after improving their skills in many different ways throughout the semester. The team is excited to leave everything on the court this weekend in order to win the big SEC Championship title.

Going into this tournament the Gators already proved themselves as the top team in the SEC by beating every team in the tournament already this season including a 6-1 win over Alabama, 4-0 win over Texas A&M, and a 4-1 win over South Carolina.
