The N0. 2 Florida softball team successfully completed the sweep of Ole Miss after winning 4-2 on Sunday. This was the Gator’s third SEC sweep of the season and the ninth sweep of the Rebels in series history. Kelly Barnhill picked up her 14th win and Kayli Kvistad and Amanda Lorenz both hit their second home runs of the series.

Lorenz put Florida on the board early with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning. Next, three gators added hits in the fifth and Kvistad extended the Florida’s lead to 3-0 after an RBI walk. In the bottom of the fifth, Ole Miss got on the board scoring one run after two hits. In the seventh, the game was brought to the final score, 4-2, after Kvistad and Ole Miss’s Haley Ashton both put added solo home runs for their teams.
Aleshia Ocasio earned her fifth save of the season after going 2.2 innings and allowing one run and two hits while striking out two. Barnhill allowed one run on one hit with and SEC high tying nine strike outs.
Next up, the Gators will begin and eight game home stand on Wednesday when they host No. 9 Florida State for a mid week match up. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. UF and FSU met twice in the 2015 season with the Gators taking the first game 5-1 in Tallahassee and the second game 5-0 in Gainesville.
Florida will also host Louisiana at Lafayette this weekend with a double header on Saturday and wrapping up the series on Sunday.
