The second ranked Florida lacrosse team didn’t let bad weather put out its fire today as the Gators routed Vanderbilt 16-2. The Gators improved their record to 10-1 overall and registered their first win in the Big East. Senior Nicole Graziano says they’re hoping to use this win to propel them forward.
Florida shot out to a 9-1 lead in the first half and managed to hold the Commodores to just two points throughout the game.
UF was led by Graziano with five points, followed by Allie Pavinelli with three. The Gators showed they have depth when Alex Puller and Sam Darcangelo were able to come in from the bench and make plays. Julie Blaze and Kelly Chandler were the two scorers for Vanderbilt. Florida coach Amanda O’Leary says she’s glad more players were able to get some action in today’s game.
Florida’s defense was also nearly impenetrable. Goal keeper Mary-Sean Wilcox had three saves and Haley Hicklenhad nine in the win. The team also limited their turnovers to just 10.
Up next, the team is gearing up to take on Temple at Dizney Stadium on April 2nd.
