The tenth-ranked Florida Gators will travel to take on the second-ranked University of North Carolina women’s lacrosse team on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. This is the Gator’s first road trip of the season.
Florida is 2-0 this spring with wins over Loyola and Michigan. The Orange and Blue took down the Michigan Wolverines 12-11 on Feb. 13, and are hosting the Wales National Team today at 4 p.m. for a friendly before they travel to Chapel Hill.
Meanwhile, Carolina is 3-0 with two road wins against James Madison and High Point and a home victory over San Diego State. The Tar Heels crushed San Diego State on Sunday, with an impressive score of 20-7.
With both the Gator’s and Tar Heels off to a successful start, the match up between the two teams should be extremely competitive.
The Tar Heels beat Florida twice last year, including a 17-11 regular season win in Gainesville, Fla., on Feb. 7. Carolina then took the Gator’s down once more, with a final score of 11-6 in the NCAA Tournament first round in Chapel Hill on May 10.
Florida Head Coach Amanda O’Leary said she is happy with her team’s performance so far but they have a few things to work on before they travel to Chapel Hill.
