Volleyball Preview: Gators Host Alabama

The Gator volleyball team takes on Alabama this Friday in the O’Dome. Florida looks to bounce back after a tough loss to Auburn that ruined their nine game winning streak. The Gators record now stands at 18-5 overall and 10-4 in the SEC.

Florida head coach Mary Wise says the recent loss was a learning experience. “Nothing has changed in terms of where everything is still out in front of us… use this opportunity from this past weekend to get better.”

Friday’s matchup will be the first and only time that the Gators face Alabama this season. Wise says Alabama has some key weapons on their team.

“They feature one of the premiere athletes in the country… on the right side and then they have two hot arms on the left side, run by an experienced senior setter.”

Alabama currently holds a record of 13-13 overall and 7-5 in conference play. The Crimson Tide are coming off a win against South Carolina to put them on a three game win streak.

First serve is set for 7:30 PM on Friday. Live coverage of the game can be heard on ESPN Gainesville 95.3 starting at 6:50 PM.
