UF Cross Country Gets Ready For USF Invitational

The University of Florida’s Cross Country teams are looking forward to the upcoming University of South Florida Invitational held in Tampa this Friday, October 16th. After a 12th place overall finish in their last meet, Florida coach Paul Spangler expects this team to move up in the rankings. One of Florida’s top runners, Becky Greene, will sit this weekend due to a slight hip injury that requires rest before the big races later in the season. The team has had to make adjustments but the runners have all stepped up and performed well.

Spangler refers to the upcoming race and says his team is working hard.

“Individual goals, certainly those have made some adjustments as athletes have improved maybe more than we anticipated, but the team goal hasn’t changed,” Spangler said.

As individual runner performances differ from week to week, the fight for spots in meets continues and no spot is secure. The runners will be continuing to rest and sharpen their skills in order to come out strong in the race this weekend.
