Florida Women’s Swimming Opens Dual-Meet Season At Vanderbilt

The Florida Women’s swim team travels to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt for their first dual meet of the 2015-2016 season on Thursday.   Then both the men’s and women’s teams will square off against Minnesota on Saturday.

This is the very first meet for the Commodores, while Florida was able to compete at the end of September with both the men’s and women’s teams participating in the annual All Florida Invitational on September 18-20. The women’s team took home first in a number of events including the 200 free relay, 50 free, and 400 IM events.

This meet will not include the divers, so the focus will all be on swimming.

Florida head coach Gregg Troy mentioned some injuries and sickness among the team but says it’s not something to really worry about for this meet.

“We’ve had a couple of injuries on the women’s side. We’ve had a little bit of flu all the way through but hopefully we respond as well as the football team. Those are the type of things that early season in our sport the times are nice but it’s a little bit more of a guide point to see what we’re getting from the training, seeing where we’ve overdone it or underdone it.”
