The Kentucky football team has a chance to start the season strong, and that’s an understatement.
The Wildcats are 3-1 to start the year, and are getting decent production on the offensive side of the ball when compared to the entire the Southeastern Conference.
Wildcats quarterback Patrick Towles has the seventh most passing yards in SEC, and Stanley “Boom” Williams has the seventh most rushing yards in the conference.
However, EKU isn’t a talentless team; it is full of talented transfers from throughout the nation.
Bennie Coney, who transferred from Cincinnati, will be playing at quarterback for EKU.
The Colonels also have Adam Lane rushing the ball this season. Lane, who transferred from the University of Florida, played well for the Gators late last season. The former Gator won the MVP award in the Birmingham Bowl, and is now an important part of a run heavy offense for the Colonels.
However, even if Kentucky’s defense hasn’t been the best in the SEC (ranked 8th in total defense), the hope from Kentucky faithful is that their Wildcats will be able to defeat this in state rival.
Eastern Kentucky has lost 15 straight games against power conference teams as Kentucky looks to improve to 4-1 on the season.
