#BDN Best Defense in the Nation. The hashtag above is one of the many motivational factors used by new Florida defensive coordinator, Geoff Collins. The Florida Gators will begin the 2015 football season on Saturday as the New Mexico State Aggies will roll in to Gainesville, and Collins, the mastermind behind the ‘Psycho Defense’, is ready to unleash the #SwampBeasts. “Might be the most competitive group of kids I’ve ever been around,” Collins said. “If you put a ball down, or you say there’s a winner or a loser, or there’s some kind of competitive situation, these guys just thrive and they shine.” Collins is known for his exotic blitz packages and being able to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Last year, as the defensive coordinator for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Collins estimated that his defensive unit was able to harass the quarterback “over 30% of the time.” The Gator defense will have their work cut out for them this Saturday against a New Mexico State offensive line that returns four starters from a unit that only allowed nine sacks all of last year. “Affecting the quarterback is a big deal,” Collins stressed. “Whether we get to him, don’t get to him, but affecting him, his timing, the releases, hands in the face, whatever it may be to disrupt the passes; that’s huge for us.” If the Gators can get to New Mexico State quarterback Tyler Rogers, it could be a long night for the junior, but, like any other season opener, Collins expects the Aggies to have a few new wrinkles. “When we step on the field on Saturday, there are unknowns with what they’re going to do or how they’re going to attack us; but the one factor, critical factor, is how we approach it when we take the field,” Collins said. “Come out there with the right mindset, the right energy, make all the checks, make all the adjustments, and get to the ball and play fast.” At 7:30PM on Saturday, Collins and the Gators will begin their quest to achieve their goal of being the
