The TPC is underway, more playoff games in the NBA and NHL, the NFL Draft and baseball too in our Friday Sports Update.
** Action continues today at the Tournament Players Championship PGA event. Martin Kaymer shot a nine under par 63 to seize a two stroke lead over Russell Henley after the first round. Three former Gator golfers are in the field with Brian Gay and Camilo Villegas at two under and Billy Horschel at even par.
** The NFL Draft continues today in New York after the first round selections were made last night. Jacksonville shocked some people by taking UCF quarterback Blake Bortles with the third pick overall. Tampa Bay takes wide receiver Mike Evans from Texas A&M and Miami selected Tennessee offensive lineman Ja’Wuan James.
** The NBA Playoffs have a team that has not been beaten yet; after sweeping Charlotte the Miami Heat now lead Brooklyn 2-0 after a 94-82 win in Miami Thursday. San Antonio also went up 2-0 on Portland with a 114-97 win.
** In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Boston edges Montreal 1-0 to tie that series at 2-2 while Anaheim defeats Los Angeles 3-2 as the Kings lead 2-1 in that series. Tonight, Pittsburgh can close out the New York Rangers with a win and Chicago is at Minnesota up 2-1.
** In baseball, Baltimore completes a sweep of Tampa Bay with a 3-1 win; the Rays are now five games under .500. The Rays begin a series with Cleveland tonight. Miami beat San Diego 3-1 and those teams will play all weekend. Atlanta was idle and will begin a series at home tonight against the Chicago Cubs.
