Florida vs. Georgia Gymnastics Preview

The third ranked Florida Gymnastics team opens SEC home action tonight against sixth ranked Georgia.

The last time the Gators and the GymDogs met was on the road in Athens, closing out 2013 SEC road action with a 197.30-196.75 win. At the time, the Florida was ranked No. 1 and Georgia was ranked No. 6. The Gators trailed mid-meet, but moved ahead in the third rotation to secure the win.

The two teams met a total of four times in the 2013 season, and tonight’s match-up will be the first of what will probably be many for the 2014 season.

“We’re just really pumped to get out into the O-Dome. Especially against Georgia,” said head coach Rhonda Faehn. “It’s going to be a really great gymnastics competition.”

The Gators are 5-5-1 against the GymDogs under Faehn, and 29-52-1 all time. This home meet against Georgia will mark the 42nd consecutive time that both teams bring a top-10 ranking team into the competition.

Florida’s Bridget Sloan is coming into this meet as SEC Gymnast of the Week. This is the second consecutive week that a Gator has been given this honor. Kytra Hunter was awarded this last week.

Meet time is set for 7pm in the Stephen C. O’Connell center.
