UF Women’s Basketball Hosts Troy Tonight

The Florida women’s basketball team returns to Gainesville to host the Troy University Trojans tonight.  The last meeting between these teams was way back in 1979.

Florida is returning from a four game road trip over the past two weeks.  On the trip they compiled a record of 2-2 beating out N.C. State and Northern Iowa but concluding their road trip with losses to Arizona State and Michigan.  In a 59-53 loss to Michigan on Saturday, Florida shot a season low 30.3% from the floor.

Florida has been good at home, having won nine straight games.   The Gators come into the game averaging 69.1 points per game, 40.5 rebounds per game, 13.5 assists per game, and 17.8 turnovers per game.

Senior forward, Jennifer George, who hasn’t missed a game her entire career as a Gator, has scored double digits in six of UF’s last seven games.  She also leads the Gators in scoring and rebounding.

Troy is hoping to snap a three game losing streak and stand 1-5 overall with its only win against Furman.  The Trojans began this season with hopes of a “New Era” after finishing last season with a record of 2-26.  Despite losing three of last year’s starting players, a new coaching staff was brought in and the team moved into a newly constructed arena.

Game time in the O’Connell Center Tuesday is 7pm.

The game will tipoff in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center tonight at 7pm.
