University of Florida football coach Will Muschamp announced today the hiring of former Kentucky head coach Joker Phillips as Florida’s new wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator.
Phillips played for the Wildcats and coached at Kentucky in many different capacities, eventually being named head coach to replace a retiring Rich Brooks. But Phillips was fired with two games to go in this season after the Wildcats had won only one game at the time of his dismissal.
Muschamp said he is pleased to have a coach with the experience of Phillips on the staff and Phillips is also known to be a very good recruiter as well. He will coach a position that has not had a dynamic playmaker for the past three seasons and he will inherit a wide receiver group that returns all of its players except Frankie Hammond Jr.
