Opening Day For The NFL

Week one of the NFL regular season kicks off tonight night with the Dallas Cowboys taking on the New York Giants in the Meadowlands. New York will look to start the 2012 season the way they ended their 2011 regular season by beating the Cowboys. The Giants were able to clinch the NFC East after taking their week 17 matchup from Dallas 31-14 before making their playoff run to be crowned Super Bowl champions.

As for the Cowboys, disappointment may be an understatement after losing four of their last five games to end the year last season.   Dallas may be without tight end Jason Witten going into tomorrow’s matchup. Though he traveled with the team to New York, Witten is listed as doubtful with a lacerated spleen which he suffered in the first week of the preseason against the Raiders.

One Dallas player coming off an injury looking to make an impact is rookie defensive back Morris Claiborne. The Cowboys’s first round draft pick suffered a sprained ligament in his left knee during training camp but is expected to help shut down the Giants offense, especially through the air.

Kickoff tonight is set for 8:30pm.   Whether or not Dallas can stop the Giants tonight remains to be seen but they will get another chance in Dallas on October 28th.
