Number 23 Florida Football Opens Season Against Bowling Green

Number 23 Florida football opens its season against Bowling Green on Saturday. The Gators will look to improve from their 7-6 record last season. Florida head coach Will Muschamp says the Gators have to play hard and earn their ranking.

Florida football has been impressive in its season openers historically. The Gators are 78-27 on opening day and hold a 63-6 record in Gainesville. The Orange and Blue have outscored their opponents 276 to 38 in their last six season openers. Coach Muschamp says the Gators will not ease up against Bowling Green.

New Florida offensive coordinator Brent Pease will have his first opportunity to showcase the new west coast offense against the Falcons. The Gators finished last season 98th in the FBS in total yards under former offensive coordinator Charlie Weis. Coach Pease will rely on quarterbacks Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskel to lift the Florida offense.
