Number Four Florida Softball Takes on SEC Foe Georgia

After losing a heartbreaker to number 21 USF one 1-4 on Wednesday, the number four Florida Gators softball team take on neighboring 9/10 ranked Georgia Friday night.  Florida comes into the three games series having won four consecutive SEC series, but a sweep by Georgia in Gainesville last year is sure to be fresh on the Gators’ minds.

The Gators have only lost one game agaisnt fellow SEC opponents this season but head coach Tim Walton says Georgia is always a tough outing.

After the three games series in Athens, Florida will continue to play top 25 teams when they face-off against USA Today ranked 22 FSU on Wednesday.  With five straight games against some of the top teams in the nation, Walton says this next week will gauge where his team is at.

Of note, star player Gators senior Michelle Moultrie won SEC Player of the Week as well as USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Week.  Moultrie hit .727 with two home runs, four RBI and a stolen base as Florida swept Arkansas three games to none.

Friday night’s game will start at 8pm, Saturday’s will start at 2:30pm and Sunday’s game will start at 1pm.
