The Florida Gators softball team begins a five game homestand on Wednesday, hosting the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga Mocs in a doubleheader. The twinbill will be a short break from SEC play after the Gators took two of three at Tennessee last weekend.
Gators coach Tim Walton and his Florida Gators are 23-2 overall and 4-1 in SEC games with their only losses to fifth ranked Washington and at nationally ranked Tennessee.
Walton says the team is “sputtering” offensively due in part to the loss of offensive leaders Brittany Schutte and Bailey Castro, out with injuries. Despite the setbacks, Walton believes the Gators are still a great team.
In the Gators’ last matchup against the Mocs, in 2007, Florida won 5-1, and Florida holds an all time record of 7-2 in the series.
Florida will resume conference play this weekend when they host the Gamecocks of South Carolina, starting this Friday.
