It’s that time of year again. Spring football begins Wednesday, March 14, for the Gators and head coach Will Muschamp and the team looks to put themselves back in contention for a national championship. Florida goes into spring practice with some new faces including former Boise State offensive coordinator Brent Pease and new strength and conditioning coach Jeff Dillman. With the addition of the new personnel comes a different outlook and mentality as Muschamp preaches physicality and consistency at Florida’s pre-spring practice press conference on Tuesday.
Coach Pease couldn’t agree more as the OC says developing a physical front and cutting back on turnovers are major themes for the new season.
Muschamp and Pease will have their hands full as the team’s quarterbacks Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskel will compete for the starting position. As of now, its up in the air as Muschamp has no timetable for when the starter will be named. However, Coach Muschamp made it clear the starter will have to produce and step up as a leader on and off the field.
Spring practice will be open to the public for only two days later this week on Friday and Saturday. The first session on Friday, March 16, is scheduled to open from 4:25-6:35 p.m. while the March 17, session is open from 12:55-3:00 p.m. The Gators will wrap up their spring activities on April 7, at 1 p.m. at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in the annual Orange and Blue game.
