The 12th ranked Florida Gators fall to #1 Kentucky 74-59 to close out the regular season. The final score does not tell the whole story, after going into the half with a 40-32 deficit, the Gators came out strong behind center Patric Young who finished the game with 21 points and 9 rebounds.
Florida got the lead down to as little as two but the Wildcats, behind freshman phenom Anthony Davis, kicked it into high gear. Davis finished the match up with a game high 22 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocked shots. Florida point guard Erving Walker was quiet in his senior game with just 8 points, 1 rebound; but he did have 5 assists.
Gators freshman guard, Brad Beal had a quiet day as well, with 5 points but snagged 7 rebounds in 36 minutes. Beal injured his ankle late in the game, but was able to return to the court after getting treatment of some sort in the locker room. With the loss, Florida falls to the fourth seed in the South Eastern Conference Tournament and will face the winner of South Carolina/Alabama game on Friday.
