Gator Baseball Rallies To Beat Bethune Cookman; Hosts UCF Tonight

The number one ranked Gators baseball team had to rally late Tuesday night to hold off pesky Bethune Cookman and come away with an 8-6 win at McKethan Stadium.

The Gators looked to be in control early when they scored three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-1 lead.   But, the Wildcats scored two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the seventh inning to take 6-5 lead.

However, in the bottom of the seventh, designated hitter Mike Zunino hit his second homer of the game to tie the score and Florida scored two runs in the eighth to win it.  Preston Tucker hit a bases loaded single to plate the eventual winning run and Brian Johnson added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly.

The win went to reliever Austin Maddox who pitched two scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth innings; he is 1-0 on the year while Florida improves to 3-1 on the young season.

The Gators get right back into action tonight when they host nationally ranked UCF; you can hear the game live on WRUF Sports Radio 850 starting at 7pm.
