There are a lot of things happening in the world of sports on this Thursday in our Sports News And Notes…
- The Chicago Cubs, now under new management, have fired manager Mike Quade after just one season at the helm. There is speculation that Hall of Famer and former Cub Ryne Sandberg will get heavy consideration for the position.
- The Baltimore Orioles have claimed former Gator pitcher Darren O’Day off waivers from the Texas Rangers.
- Former Gator quarterback and current Denver Bronco quarterback Tim Tebow said he was not bothered by the Detroit Lions “Tebowing” after sacking him last week. “Tebowing” has become a You Tube deal after Tebow was seen kneeling while his teammates celebrated a win over Miami a couple of weeks ago.
- Lots of high school district volleyball play going on now and there are some prep football games in the area today as well. Eastside will visit Santa Ge, Union County visits Newberry; Pk Yonge is at Christ’s Church Academy and Lecanto is at GHS.
