Gators Men’s Hoops Looks To Tame The Tigers

The Florida (11-2, 1-0 SEC) men’s basketball team travels to the bayou on Saturday for its first SEC road game of the year.

After registering 16 assists during Florida’s last two wins, junior point guard Scottie Wilbekin looks to continue dishing out dimes against LSU (9-3, 0-1 SEC). Wilbekin says lately he’s been seeing the game better.

It won’t be easy against a Tiger defense leading the Southeastern Conference in steals (10.8 per game). However, Florida head coach Billy Donovan is more concerned about LSU’s rebounding ability (13th in the SEC).

Regardless, expect Florida to continue to seek contributions from deep on its bench.

This season, four Gator players are averaging double digit points per game, and the leading scorer (Kenny Boynton, 13.3 ppg) is averaging just slightly over seven points more per game than a true freshman (Michael Frazier II, 5.8 ppg). Donovan says his team performs at its highest level when all five players on the court are contributing.

Tip off for Saturday’s game is at 4pm. Tune into ESPN Radio 850/900 to hear all the action live. Coverage starts at 3:25.
