Gator Football Sugar Bowl Bound

The University of Florida Gator football team (11-1) is officially BCS bound after Sunday night.  The Gators, now ranked third in the BCS polls were selected to face 21st ranked Louisville (10-2), the champions of the Big East.

This will be Florida’s 22nd consecutive bowl appearance which ranks first in the SEC and second nationally.  This is also Florida’s 19th January bowl game which is the most of any school in the country.

The Gators will also see a familiar face on the opposing sideline, as former Gator defensive coordinator Charlie Strong is the head coach of the Cardinals.  Strong says that he is thrilled to face a team he’s made many memories with.

The Gators will be playing in their ninth Sugar Bowl, and will be looking to win their fifth consecutive bowl game.  Florida coach Will Muschamp says his guys are pumped and ready to play for the Sugar Bowl.

This will be the third meeting between the two schools, with the Gators dominating the first two of the series.  The Gators have improved from a 7-6 team last year to an 11-1 team, and are ready to finish a great season with a big win.
