NFL Preview: Jacksonville Jaguars Look to Minimize Mistakes Against Houston Texans

Week 10 of the NFL will feature the Jaguars and the Texans today.

They Jags will return to Jacksonville looking to snap a three-game losing streak as well as earn only their second home victory of the season.

Bad News Jags

The reoccurring theme for the Jags is their inability to finish games when it matters especially when in the red zone. However, quarterback Blake Bortles is not fully to blame. In their last game against the Chiefs, Bortles had a number of passes on target, but with no help on the receiving end, many of those passes were dropped. And despite quarterback coach Nathaniel Hackett’s recent promotion to offensive cordinator, the team still had four turnovers, including a fumble at the goal line in the fourth quarter.

Bortles said that regardless of Hackett being in charge of the offensive line, the team will eventually have to go out and play.

Rookie Update

In the past few drafts, the Jags have had high hopes for their top picks. The most recent being defensive players, such as corner back Jalen Ramsey who has lived up to all of the high expectations. He has done so well that he is often placed on opponents’ number one receivers–and has dominated.

The Jags have lost many of their contests by very few points. If they want to come out with a win they will need the focus of Bortles and the offense, and a top notch performance from Ramsey.

Key Notes:

• Jags wide receiver Allen Hurns and line backer Myles Jack are both questionable.
• The Texans are currently leading the AFC South and are fifth in the conference
• The Texans will come into Jacksonville refreshed after beating the Detroit Lions in Week 8 and then resting during a bye week last week.
• Without J.J. Watt, Blake Bortles and the Jags may face a less pressure.
• The Texans are the only AFC South team Blake Bortles has never beaten.
