About Basol

NEWBERRY — Reymar Basol is finishing his senior year strong, closing out his four years of incredible contributions to the Newberry Panthers’ boys lacrosse program on a high note.

Basol’s career at Newberry, especially his senior year, has been full of incredible performances and furthering his relationships with his coaches and teammates.

“Playing at school, practicing with my friends, coming out in the offseason teaching the early guys just how to play and then just moving on from that and playing and working hard,” Basol said.

Accomplishments

Basol has been a captain since his junior year and has had a large leadership role on the team. His efforts have had an impact on the Panthers’ ability to stay above .500 the past two seasons despite tough schedules. He has adapted to where his team has needed him, playing five different positions throughout his high school career and settling in his senior year as an attacker.

He has had a dominating first half of his senior season, scoring a double hat trick in their game against Chiles, four goals against Sante Fe and putting up seven in the win against Forest.

Coachable Player

Basol also attributed a lot of his success to his coach Cooper Jackson and how he has opened opportunities for Basol to further his skills and make connections.

“He’s been a ‘do it all’ guy,” Jackson said. “He’s gotten after it, he works hard, he’s a team player.”

Jackson and Basol have spent the last four years working together to achieve goals for the program. Jackson, along with other local high school lacrosse coaches, created the Florida Reign lacrosse club, of which Basol is a player.

“He is a great kid, I love him. He is awesome to coach and he is the reason we do this kind of stuff and we are out here coaching, it’s kids like that,” Jackson said.

Player Relationships

Aside from his many accomplishments, Basol will also take with him many of the great relationships he has fostered while a part of this program.

“He’s always going to hype you up, he’s always going to be the one that gets you fired up, he’s going to be the one that, if it needs to be, he’s going to try to put the team on his back if he can,” senior Colton Harvey said. “He’s always a great person, he’s fun to be around.”

Looking Ahead

The Panthers (6-5) look to make a playoff run and extend their season as much as possible before Basols’ four-year career with Newberry varsity lacrosse comes to a close. This may not be the end of his lacrosse career, as he is still exploring some potential offers from the right school or the right program. However, he is pursuing some other impressive goals after college.

“I plan to join the military, that’s been something that’s been heavy on my heart my whole life. If it comes and I get a scholarship and I get coaches to look at me then I’ll go and go reserves and take that route but as of right now I’m letting it up to God.”
