After a back and forth game, the Philadelphia Flyers were able to squeeze out a 4-3 shootout victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Flyers improve to 28-31-8 on the season, and the Flyers drop a game, falling to 37-23-5.
Game Recap
Tampa Bay started the scoring with a power play goal by Gage Goncalves under ten minutes into the quarter. But it did not take long for the Flyers to respond as Bobby Brink puts one past the keeper just shortly after. Both teams escaped the first quarter tied up at one.
Just 15 seconds into the second period Zemgus Girgensons stumps the keeper and puts Tampa Bay in the lead. Brink was having none of it last night as he scores his second goal of the day to tie the game back up. With under a minute left to go in the second period, Ryan Poehling gives the Flyers the lead for the first time in the game.
Cam Atkinson scores one for the Lightning just under four minutes into the final period, marking the third tie up in the game. Regular time ended with a score of 3-3.
After four consecutive missed shootout shots, Owen Tippett of the Flyers had enough. Tippett banged in his penalty shot putting the Flyers in winning position. Tampa Bay missed their shot at redemption giving the win to the Philadelphia Flyers.
