The Gator football team has a very important game at Auburn on Saturday; our coverage on WRUF Sports Radio 850 and Country 103-7 The Gator starts with the Community Bank And Trust Of Florida First And Ten pregame show at 4pm.
Here are our Keys To Victory for Florida…
- Open It Up On Offense. Regardless which freshman quarterback plays for Florida, (Jacoby Brissett will probably start) offensive coordinator Charlie Weis has to open up the playbook and let the quarterbacks try to make some plays in the passing game. That was hard to do against LSU but you would think it would be easier against an Auburn defense that has been not good for most of the season. But in this regard, a so-so receiving group has to step up as well.
- Tackle Better. What better way to keep a bad defense off the field than to keep your offense on the field; and that’s probably what Auburn will try to do. Expect a healthy dose of the Auburn running game led by tailback Michael Dyer who averages 113 yards a game on the ground. Florida has not tackled very well of late and Alabama and LSU ran the ball almost at will against the Gator defense. If that happens Saturday, it could be a long day for the Gators again.
- Whip Up A Special Teams Score Or Big Play. Florida has not created many turnovers on defense so maybe the special teams can get something done in this game to provide a spark…a big play or even a score. On the road, those kinds of plays can be huge.
- More Gillislee? Many fans have been calling for tailback Mike Gillislee to run the ball more and he might get his chance this week. He is more of a downhill runner and seems to fit the Weis system and he might take some carries away from Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey if he runs well early.
- Attitude. If a young Florida team gets down early after two big losses the past two weeks, how will it react? Getting off to a fast start could be very important in this game.
